Lucy is a demented serial killer and the mommy of Hope. She has appeared in 4 episodes so far and has been mentioned in several others.
First Appearance.
Lucy Carlyle is a serial killer who murders her boyfriends, then changes her name. She meets Jimmy (Lucas Neff) while she is escaping the scene where she tries to kill
her current boyfriend (he forgot her birthday, and she tried to strangle him with shoelaces), but Jimmy didn't know yet. He quickly drives her away in his truck, and when they get back to his front yard, she calls him cute and a hero, and the two immediately have sex in his truck. The next morning Jimmy went into his house to find that his family bonded with Lucy. When she goes to the toilet, Jimmy and his family see a news report that reveals her as a dangerous murderer. She comes back and Virginia (Martha Plimpton) picks up the television set and knocks her unconsious with it while the rest of the family sits in shock and fear. Jimmy visits her in prison, and discovers she is pregnant with his child. She is given the electric chair six months after giving birth, and Jimmy receives custody of their daughter.
Flashbacks and mentionings.
She appears briefly in the title sequence when the book reads "See mom get busted", where she is blonde instead of a brunette. In the episode "Habits" when Virginia loses Hope in her collection of accumulated junk and Jimmy wants to know how it happened, she tells him that "you knocked up a freakin' serial killer and stuck us with the baby, that's what happened!" Later in the series, it is revealed that Lucy made videotapes for Hope. These were given to Jimmy along with items she owned in prison. The tapes, recorded by Lucy and her cellmate, contain messages for Hope, such as how to survive in prison and how to dance sexy. It is also implied that Lucy may
have had "graphic lesbian sex" with her cellmate in these videos. She is mentioned several times in the episode where Lucy's parents come over to dinner, and it is discovered that Lucy's father, Dale, was her mother's therapist before he was her husband, and that neither parent is entirely emotionally stable, which are likely partly at fault for her murdering tendancies.
In the season 1 finale, which flashes back to five years prior to the start of the series, Lucy is show several times in the grocery store with an old boyfriend. He calls her stupid when she says she wants to name her future daughter Princess Beyonce, and when she doesn't want to eat meat, he mocks her for not wanting to kill anything. Shelley overhears and advises Lucy to "get rid of him." Lucy smiles ominously and agrees, later returning in order to buy bleach so that she can get bloodstains out of the trunk of a car.
As of Season 2 Episode 21, it shows Jimmy and Lucy had gotten married, and at the end of the episode featured Lucy to be alive. WHAAAAAAAAAT???
In the season 2 Finale were it is revealed that Lucy was alive She said everything went black and went down a hallway and saw hevean but then God said she didnt belong there and the devill was chasing after her then she woke up. For two years she revealed that she was a monk, Then says she wants custody of Hope. She later comes to Jimmy's house and says she wants to talk. Also stating that their still married since she didnt die. She says they wont go to court unless Jimmy agrees to travel with her and Hope to Tabet. Jimmy says no. In court since the jail wanted to keep her being alive a secret they erased all files of her charges as a serial killer. Since they had no proof of her being a killer. At the end when the jury has comed to a verdict it is anounced that Hope will go to Lucy. Lucy then goes back to Jimmy's house and they drive off with Hope to Tabet as they leave Jimmy looks out the window and sees Sabrina. Lucy pulls over and says "you love her dont you?", Jimmy says " yes, but I love my daughter." Lucy then says "what I'm about to do is for my daughter." Lucy then gets out of the car and pulls a knife and starts running after Sabrina. Sabrina keeps running and leaves behind Lucy. Lucy then gets hit by a bus. And Hope is given back to the Chances.
